| Lauren Manning, Yoga Teacher |
Lauren has been practicing Yoga for 16 years and teaching for 14 of them. Originally from South Africa, she now divides her time between India, Turkey and UK. When asked what ‘style’ of Yoga she teaches, she uses the phrase ‘Hatha Fusion ‘ – suggesting an eclectic combination of a number of different styles. She takes her influence from several approaches that have touched her, as well as from her own personal journey ‘on the mat’.
Initially a Sivananda trained teacher (California 1996), she has also explored, studied and taught Ashtanga Vinyasa, and appreciates the strengthening aspect of this powerful approach. In addition, she respects the preciseness of Iyengar, the gentleness and fluidity of Scaravelli and the softness and surrender of Yin Yoga.
Combining all these gems, her classes tend to flow – students move from one posture to another – starting gently and gradually building up momentum and energy, and then towards the end of the session, slowing down again in preparation for relaxation and the releasing of energy (on all levels: physical, mental, emotional) that comes about from the practice. Students usually feel both relaxed and energized after a class.
